Recently named the Beat Poet Laureate of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Human Error Publishing's founder, Paul Richmond, has earned a reputation for producing innovative and inclusive spoken word events. Now in it's eighth year in Franklin County, Human Error's annual Word Festival is coming to Turners Falls, MA. This four day, community centered, non-academic poetry festival is a multi venue, genre crossing, boundary bending, diverse and inclusive celebration of spoken word.

The Great Falls Word Festival brings poets, small press publishers, performers, teachers and students, writing groups, and poetry admirers together for workshops, readings, open mics, and evening feature performances. Home base will be located downtown in the historic Shea Theater, with a pop-up bookstore and cafe.

We've been told by seasoned performance poets that this is an “unusually happening scene”. From writers coming to the mic for their first public reading to seasoned poet performers and every one in between, the Great Falls Word Festival is an opportunity to bring work to the mic before an encouraging listening audience. For the audience it is an opportunity to hear the work of more than 100 poets, of all ages and voices, from close to home and from afar.

For only $20 the Great Falls Word Festival button, available online  and at the Shea Theater during the Festival, is your ticket to all Festival venues, including the evening feature shows. Your advance purchase of buttons for yourself and a friend will help us bring more voices to the mic. If you'd like to attend the Festival but the cost of a button is honestly too dear, please apply for a scholarship button. Having the door open for every one is important to us.
