ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
The GuateMaya Art and Culture Connection is an enterprise guided by the principle of fair trade. Their mission is to utilize art as a means to connect people across borders, foster understanding, mutual appreciation and greater cooperation among people. The unique paintings from the Mayan villages on Lake Atitlan in Guatemala depict scenes that are integral to village life, including markets, wildlife, fruits, vegetables, and harvesting coffee and cotton. Known for their distinctive style, these artists are exhibited in galleries and shows internationally, including the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. Paintings will be available to purchase at very reasonable prices. All sales support the artists and afterschool art programs in Guatemala directly. https://www.guatemayaartandcultureconnection.com

ABOUT FIESTA DEL NORTE
Connecticut’s first mariachi band, Fiesta del Norte is a Mexican Mariachi band performing the traditional folk and popular music of Mexico. Dressed in traditional sombreros and “charro” outfits, our repertoire spans from the Mariachis of Jalisco to the Nortenas of Chihuahua, to the harp music of Vera Cruz, down to the Marimba music of Chiapas. All this played on authentic instruments such as guitar, vihuela, guitarron, violin, and trumpet with beautiful singing throughout. Song translations, storytelling and cultural insights are interwoven between musical numbers. https://www.fiestadelnorte.com/
