Connecticut River litter finds new life as artwork at Trash to Treasure juried exhibition

BY Shaina Mishkin, MASSLIVE, April 6, 2015, Trash to Treasure: The River’s Song Art Exhibit”, which runs on Fridays and Saturdays from April 4 to May 8 and daily from May 9 to May 27, features materials like old bottles and car parts repurposed into paintings, sculptures and textile art.

The exhibition is part of the River’s Song Project, a collaboration between the UMass Fine Arts Center Asian Arts and Culture Program, the Connecticut River Watershed Council, Turners Falls RiverCulture and the Great Falls Discovery Center. The collaboration, inspired by The Nile Project, will celebrate the river with a day of events on Saturday, May 16, at the Great Falls Discovery Center.
